Hi. I am originally from the Philippines. I have been living in Canada since 1989. I have a background in Accounting. But now I work in the Claims Department of an insurance company. I have been there since 1996, yes, it’s been a long time. I like working there because we have good benefits and flexible hours and I like the people I work with. I also work part time at the deli department of a local grocery store.
I am a mother to three boys: Reggie (24), Ryan (20) and Ryland (16). Reggie has finished university with a degree in Jazz Music. He has performed as a Jazz Musician at different gigs and events and he was one of the featured artists at the 2013 TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival. He has also tried stand-up comedy and he has hosted Live! With Reggie San Miguel, a series of shows(late night format) where he has interviewed some local artists including children music performer, Mr. Fred Penner. Ryan is still in university. He’s still very undecided on what he wants to do, but that’s fine. I try to be there to support and guide him. Ryland is still in high school. Typical teenager, can be sweet, sometimes, and irreverent at times, too, the latter more often than the former. Ryan will sometimes say, “give him a couple more years,” when he sees me and Ryland butting heads. “But, Ryan.” I said one time, “you’ve been saying that for about two years now.” How much longer do I have to wait? 🙂
I was married for 19 years, but I am now single and divorced. It hasn’t been easy for all of us. There was a lot of bitterness between my ex and me after the end of the marriage, but we got through the most difficult part of the separation. We are now in good terms that we could communicate in a friendly manner.
I started this blog at a time when I had a lot of time on my hands. That was when I was still working at home. But that only lasted for 6 years and since I came back to work downtown, I haven’t got much time to update this blog. But as I’ve said before, I want to keep this blog on-line because people tell me they get inspiration from my posts. And after revisiting this article about my blog, I am inspired to revive Journey to Honeyville. Especially now that I have literally journeyed back to my homeland, which is sort of the essence of “Journey to Honeyville.”
