Father’s Day at The Ex

My nine-year old son, Ryland, received another Read & Win Pass again from his school.  This pass entitles him to a free admission and three free rides on the Red River Exhibition.  The Ex, as we simply call it, is an annual fair that comes here in Winnipeg around the third week of June.

It’s good that we decided to go last Sunday, Father’s Day, because admission for dads were only half price.  My two older boys didn’t want to go, so we asked their cousins if they wanted to come with us since I knew that they also had free passes.  The more, the merrier, right?

If you had read my post last year, Getting dizzy at the Ex, you’ll remember my note to self: Don’t ride the Tilt-a-whirl, because it made Ryland and me dizzy and it gave me a pounding headache.  It’s a good thing that the kids also didn’t want to go on the extreme rides.  They went to the kiddie rides: the Glass House, The Cuckoo Haus, Mardi Gras, the Carousel, and the Bumper Cars.  My six-year old nephew wanted to ride by himself but he couldn’t reach the pedals.  He had to ride with Ryland.  But then Ryland had a hard time maneuvering the wheel, so they were mostly stuck in the same place.

Well, anyway, the kids had fun.  And before we left, we dropped by the petting zoo.  And we saw these baby chicks, baby cow, and newborn piglets and the kids got to touch them.

And of course, we brought home mini-donuts and cotton candy even for the big kids that were left at home.

The Red River Ex is in town from June 15 to 24, 2007.  If you are here in Winnipeg, you still have time to go.

This is a very good deal; I wonder if we fathers in this country could have such half-a-pricve privilege when it’s father’s day here. Sadly there ain’t none.

With all those rides, the kids would surely have a good time. just like Ryland….

Belated Happy Father’s Day to your husband…

Looks like the kids had lots of fun at the Ex🙂 In Toronto we have the EX too – short for Exhibition Place which opens only for a limited time in September. There’s tons of shops, rides ( even casinos), food counters and concerts at night . When I go to the Ex, I associate one word with it – DIZZINESS🙂

Wow! Surely a fun place for the youngsters! The malls around here have similar rides for the kids, but I much prefer the concept of traveling fairs such as this one. Something to look forward to!

    Aaaahhh…. those chicks and piglets… they’re so cute🙂
I’m not very fond of the rides though as I suffer from vertigo (among other things), but it’s nice just to look around🙂

Your life revolves around your childen, doesn’t it Niceheart! Enjoy them while they’re young. 🙂

A pettiing zoo. What a nice idea. A place for teaching children TLC for animals.

As for me, my children taught me how to love cats and dogs and sundry pets.

looked like ryland had a fun day. was it the father who was suppused to have the fun? he he

i cannot look at piglets that long, or touch them. they seem to be fragile. dunno about this but maybe it’s their color – so pink and delicate.

Thank you for the comments and greetings everyone.

I know, it was supposed to be daddy’s day, but it was the kids who had a blast. The hubby was complaining that he got dizzy, (not from the rides because he didn’t go to any), but from following us around.🙂
