C Jam Blues

This is one of the three Duke Ellington selections that the River East Collegiate Senior Jazz Band played at the 12th Annual Essentially Ellington Competition and Festival in New York City.  This is actually the only selection in which Reggie played.

The first soloist is the piano player on your left end, then Reggie playing the flute on the opposite end, then the French horn, and so on.

Here’s C Jam Blues.

The group just came back from New York last night.  Yay!  They didn’t win.  It looks like their competition was very tough.  But that’s okay.  We think that they’re already winners just by making it to the final 15 in this prestigious jazz festival and also having the chance to jam with the musicians at the Lincoln Center.  Click here for a list of the winners.

Niceheart, even before they left, they were winners already – imagine representing the whole of Canada to this prestigious competition. And also, the experience that Reggie and his band gained in New York is priceless. Welcome back, Reggie!

Being among the 15 finalists was an achievement in itself! Congratulations, Reggie and welcome home!

Hmmm…after this jazz artist has seen New York, how can you keep him in Canada? Hehehe.

I’m telling you, Irene, you’ll someday be visiting NYC more often than you realize🙂

Thank you for all the comments, everyone.

Ah Eric, you break my heart. Just kidding.🙂 As I’ve mentioned before, I will let him spread his wings. At least New York is not as far as Japan. That’s where he wanted to go when he was in junior high.

    Thanks for the greetings, Sidney.

Hey, it’s alright. They’re already winners in their own right. There’ll be plenty more competitions to come. They’ll mature and so will their talent. Cheers!
