I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing

November 11, 2006 at 11:30 pm 30 comments

I haven’t been able to blog and bloghop this past week.  And I still can’t compose a coherent post.  Everyone in the family, including me, has/had a cough and cold.

I intended to post this a couple of weeks ago when I saw Shoshana’s post on Dreaming.  And then last night I read about another blogger’s recent loss and I was deeply touched.  So please excuse me if I’m feeling a little bit sentimental today.

Shoshana posted a picture of her daughter while she was sleeping.  I also love watching my kids in their sleep.  When each of my kids was still a baby, I would sometimes stay and lie there in bed after he had nursed and fallen asleep.  Or if he fell asleep in my arms or in his crib, I’d linger for a while and watch him sleep.  And I think every parent can relate to this when I say that it is the most wonderful feeling when your baby falls asleep on your chest.  You wouldn’t want to move for fear that you might wake him up and break that bond that you share when his chest is against yours and his heart beats against yours.

That being said, here’s one of my favourite songs.

I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing

By Aerosmith

sleepa.jpg

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
Far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Well, every moment spent with you
Is a moment I treasure

I don’t wanna close my eyes
I don’t wanna fall asleep
‘Cause I’d miss you, babe
And I don’t wanna miss a thing
‘Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I’d still miss you, babe
And I don’t wanna miss a thing

sleepb.jpg
Lying close to you
Feeling your heart beating
And I’m wondering what you’re dreaming
Wondering if it’s me you’re seeing
Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we’re together
And I just wanna stay with you
In this moment forever, forever and ever

I don’t wanna close my eyes
I don’t wanna fall asleep
‘Cause I’d miss you, babe
And I don’t wanna miss a thing
‘Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I’d still miss you, babe

And I don’t wanna miss a thing

sleepc.jpg

I don’t wanna miss one smile
I don’t wanna miss one kiss
Well, I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
I just wanna hold you close
Feel your heart so close to mine
And stay here in this moment
For all the rest of time

Don’t wanna close my eyes
Don’t wanna fall asleep
‘Cause I’d miss you, babe
And I don’t wanna miss a thing
‘Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
‘Cause I’d still miss you, babe
And I don’t wanna miss a thing

sleepd.jpg

I don’t wanna close my eyes
I don’t wanna fall asleep
‘Cause I’d miss you, babe
And I don’t wanna miss a thing
‘Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I’d still miss you, babe
And I don’t wanna miss a thing

Don’t wanna close my eyes
Don’t wanna fall asleep, yeah
I don’t wanna miss a thing.

I love to watch my boy sleep too, when he was a baby and even now. I think all mothers do…

    Take care and rest well.

I think watching our children sleep eases the exhaustion for the day. They are truly our treasures.

Thanks for your thoughts on my recent loss.

Hope you’ll all be feeling well soon.

grabeh ka niceheart naiiyak tuloy ako 😦 sabi ko ang laki laki na ng dalawang taon na magkahiwalay kami.. I just wish in the near future magkasama na kami para wala ng mga bagay at panahon na mawala pa between us. Hayy!!!

Sesame, you too? I think then that every mothers watch their kids in their sleep.

Ipanema, yeah, that is definitely one reason. Another one for me is I am just awed at the wonder of life.

    Thanks, ralphT.

Naku, melai. Sorry at napaiyak kita. Medyo feeling sentimental din kasi ako. Grabe ka naman at nauna pang gumising ang anak mo. Baliktad tuloy at ikaw pa ang pinanood sa pagtulog. I also hope that you’ll be reunited soon. Cheers! 🙂

These are interesting pics of your boys sleeping 🙂

That is a really swet song by Aerosmith. I still enjoy listening to it whenever I chance upon it on the radio.

Get some rest and hope you feel 100% better tomorrow.

I love watching my kids sleep too!!!

And I like that song very much but never really thought about singing it about my kids. But reading the lyrics interspersed with the pics, it really does connect!

I just might make a scrapbook page about it.Thanks for the inspiration!

I love this song too … It really is meaningful. Watching people whom you love deeply, sleeping, is something nice to do though I have never experienced that before but I can feel the feelings running through my body if I were to do that one fine day.

    (:

Ann, yes, me too. I still can’t get enough of how these babies came from me and how tiny they were and how big they are now.

Thanks, Toe. Maybe you’ll have yours too soon. 🙂

Thank you Eric. I’ve loved this song since the first time I’ve heard it.

    niceheart, thank you!

It’s amazing how fast kids grow. If we’re not paying attention, we could really missed a lot!

I am glad to took gazillion pictures, and sorry for those days I didn’t.

I too like watching my children sleep, hearing them breath, and seeing their faces as they dream. There’s nothing like it.

Hey, that’s our song! Danny and I got together when Armagaddon was released. Even though I’m not an Aerosmith fan, that song really says it all, doesn’t it?

I love to watch the kids sleep too. There’s an innocence about them, and no matter how trying or naughty they’ve been all day, they’re totally forgiven when I see them sleeping.

Oh, and I’m sorry for being so sporadic about coming by. I’m somehow inexplicably too busy to blog hop these days.

Shoshana, that’s true. They grow up too fast. That’s why I also treasure every single moment.

Hsin, yeah I remember your post about this song. I know what you mean about them being naughty and all. It’s all forgotten and forgiven at the end of the day. I understand that you’re busy. What with two little kids.
