More cool treats on hot summer days:

We call these ice candy in the Philippines. My kids call them freezies. Cherry, grape, orange, blue raspberry, cream soda, and tropical fruit flavours.

Popsicles – orange, grape, and cherry flavour.

Cream bars – vanilla ice cream covered in lemon-lime, orange and raspberry flavoured ice.

Drumstick – vanilla ice cream in a sugar cone with a chocolatey lining and topping and a caramel centre.

Take your pick.

I love all of these!!!

Do you have shaved ice with syrup poured on top of it over there where you are? They’ were brought over to NY by its Puerto Rican residents.

How about Magnolia ice cream? We have them in NY.

You have got to try this new local brand, Fruits in Ice Cream. Thick, creamy and delicious!

Hmmm, think I’ll head out for some ice cream 🙂

Thanks for the comments guys. My kids’ favourites are the ice candies. But they don’t like the grape flavour, even the purple popsicle. They say it tastes like medicine.

They’d like me to buy drumsticks more often than I do. But hey, I told them, they’re quite expensive, so I buy them only once in a while.

Shaved ice with syrup. Are you talking about sno-cones, Eric. I only see those at the fair, at The Red River Ex. There’s also Magnolia ice cream at the Filipino store here. But I seldom go there. Imported goods are quite pricey eh.

I still relish the shaved ice, shaped into a ball drizzled with red syrup. Those were my childhood treats.

Toe, it’s okay to eat even if you’re on a diet. But eat only one. 🙂
